Weiss Challenge Extended!
The Weiss Family Challenge has been extended!
The Weiss Family Challenge has been extended through the end of August 2011!
The Weiss Family has generously pledged to match your donations of up to $50,000 to help the construction of RSI’s Recreational Activity Center! From now until the end of August the Weiss family will match donations dollar for dollar!
The new Activity Center is developed to build upon the activities available in the community. Current community facilities are in high demand and are only available to RSI residents on a limited schedule. Our new facility will focus on including everyone and expanding the array of options available. From basketball to Super Bowl parties, from exercise equipment to relaxation, the new center will provide a host of new and expanded options.
The Activity Center provides RSI the flexibility to introduce new ideas and customize activities to fit with resident needs and preferences. We thank the Weiss family for their generous support and urge you to join them in supporting this project.
All levels of gifts are truly appreciated. Please contact LeAnna Guillen at lguillen@rsi-nc.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 'Tis the Season. . .
That's right, 'tis the season for pool-goin',sunscreen-applyin', and ....of course....backyard-grillin'! However, don't let the spirit of the season hinder your healthy habits!
Fitness Magazine shares 7 different recipes with us that will keep everyone guilt-free while grillin' this summer [and what better timing with the 4th of July right around the corner!].
So, while you are making your holiday plans rest assured that your healthy habits won't have to be compromised this year. Now, you can spend more time deciding on the firework display!
P.S...
Along with the summer sunshine comes the best time of year to buy fresh fruits and vegetables!
So while you are out shopping for your summer cookout essentials, visit one of the many Farmer's Markets in the area to grab some fresh watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, zucchini, squash, apples....well you get the picture! Nothing beats fresh local produce on a hot summer day!

Bloggin' about Hoggin' !
The Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce website explains, "While barbecue is the basis of the festival, fun for the whole family is the focus. A variety of activities are held each year as part of Hog Day: fun contests, including Hog Hollering, and Guess the Weight of the Pig contests; the area’s largest antique car show, an arts & crafts area with more than 100 vendors; and a children’s area featuring activities and rides. Hillsborough Hog Day also offers regionally and nationally known musicians, live on stage throughout the kickoff party on Friday night and all day on Saturday."
Considering we were first time hogger's, I must say we did pretty good! We were able to make some new friends, receive donations, and get sun burnt! All in between working our RSI table and sampling the endless possibilities of food (everything in moderation).
In efforts to continue to raise money for the Recreational Activity Center, Life Options has generously donated a Chest of Treasures to be raffled off!(see picture to left: gift basket).
This Chest of Treasures includes the unique work of LO employees in greeting cards and boutique style jewelry (which is made entirely from recycled products). With the treasures valued at a total of $150.00, this is a FANTASTIC deal because we are selling raffle tickets for ONLY $5!! ($5 each or you can purchase 5 for $20!)
Luckily, there is still time for you to get your tickets! The raffle will be held on June 3rd. So treat yourself or a loved one to a one-of-a-kind gift basket and help support individuals with developmental disabilities. Come get your tickets today!!
Contact us at 919-942-7391 x. 200 or visit us at 111 Providence Rd. Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
